The purpose of this event is to discuss the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal 11: Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable and of the New Urban Agenda (in preparation for Habitat III to be held in Quito, Ecuador, on 17-20 October 2016). This high-level event will discuss how financing and other implementation tools can help bring about various components of the New Urban Agenda. It will examine practical solutions to developing national and international financing frameworks; tap available traditional and innovative financial instruments; build on public, private, international, national and local partnerships; and maximize the impact of public and private development. Better articulation of Official Development Assistance (ODA) and cooperation initiatives at national, regional, and international levels on issues related to financial transfers that can generate more resources to implement and evaluate the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the SDG 11, especially in low-income countries.
